About Protrero

Protrero was founded in late 2022 by Tom Schweers after gaining valuable experience at Accenture as a manager and solutions architect within the Oracle implementation practice. The idea was to build a company from the ground-up without any outside investment by leveraging his own skills and hiring himself as the first employee of the company.

"Once the company starts making revenue through my own services I can begin to invest it back into the company itself and grow the firm organically by bringing on the best minds in my network." 

Protrero is leveraging skills learned and practiced at the gold-standard of technology consulting firms, as well as boutique firms, and applying the best of both worlds. In other words, the goal is to build an organization that is both providing the highest value of services, while at the same time able to be dynamic in response to customer needs.

Origin Story

The name "Protrero" comes from the street Tom (founder) lived on in San Francisco called Potrero Ave. and the addition of the prefix "Pro", as in professional services. The apartment on this street was lived in by Tom and his best friend from high school, after both had moved from Charlotte, NC coincidently for different reasons.

Tom originally moved to the Bay Area after graduating from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC and working in technology sales for 6 months. He took up an analyst position at Config Consultants courtesy of Vinay Kruttiventi.

After a few years of building cloud solutions for global manufacturing and technology companies at Config Consultants, Tom joined Accenture to gain an understanding of how the largest consulting companies in the world operate, and where they excel or lack compared to a boutique firm.

3 years and a highly sought after promotion later, Tom was ready to create his own company, which was the plan all along. He moved to Seattle, WA to be close to his brother and started using what he learned in all his experiences to build his own professional services brand Protrero Solutions Consulting.
